promoting from within

A multi-site early learning nonprofit

01

The situation

The organization needed qualified lead teachers and wanted to grow them from its own assistant teachers instead of hiring from outside.

02

What I changed

  • Designed a structured fellowship: facilitated sessions, participant workbooks, and field experience.
  • Wrote a stipend agreement that protected the organization’s investment in each fellow.
  • Led the sessions and field experience across two cohorts.
  • Briefed funders on the fellowship and its progress.
03

Outcome

The organization had a working, repeatable path from assistant teacher toward lead teacher. It ran for two cohorts, and funders were kept informed along the way.
